The Great Lakes Region is one of seven regions within the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), including the states Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.


The purpose of this organization is to advance and support, on the regional level, the goals of the AMTA, and to serve GLR members by


1. advancing the use of music for restoring, maintaining, and improving physical and mental health;

2. training and educating music therapists;

3. supporting research which advances knowledge of music therapy;

4. providing a forum for the exchange and publication of information about music therapy.
