The Great Lakes Region is one of seven regions within the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA).


The purpose of this organization is to advance and support, on the regional level, the goals of the AMTA, and to serve GLR members by


1. advancing the use of music for restoring, maintaining, and improving physical and mental health;

2. training and educating music therapists;

3. supporting research which advances knowledge of music therapy;

  1. 4.providing a forum for the exchange and publication of information about music therapy.

What is Music Therapy?

  1. -Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.
