Mentoring 101: GLR Mentor Training

Mentoring is defined as a long-term, developmental relationship between a senior and experienced individual and a junior-less experienced individual that encompasses occupational, educational and psychosocial domains. This 6 hour CMTE fulfills the foundational and mentoring ethics education requirement for GLR-AMTA mentor-trainees.

Speaker Biographies:
Dr. Theresa Merrill is Director of Music Therapy at Eastern Michigan University. Her dissertation is titled The Music Therapist as Mentor: Portraits of Mentoring Relationships in Music Therapy (2008). Dr. Merrill developed the GLR mentoring program in collaboration with Angela M. Snell and the GLR board. She specializes in Supervision and Mentoring.

Jeffrey Wolfe, MM, MT-BC is the Community Programs Manager and a music therapist at the Institute for Therapy through the Arts, Evanston, Illinois. He is the Chair of the Student Affairs Advisory Board for the AMTA and a co-chair of the GLR-AMTA Mentoring Program. Jeff co-founded and is current administrator and consultant for Kids Town Child Development Center, Brunswick, Ohio.

Angela M. Snell, M.S., MT-BC is a seasoned educational consultant and school music therapist employed by the Monroe County Intermediate School District, Monroe, Michigan. Angie is a regional and national presenter, author, and advocate on related topics. Her leadership roles include Assembly Representative to the National Board of Directors for the American Music Therapy Association, Assistant Speaker of the AMTA Assembly Delegates, GLR-AMTA Government Relations Chair, and former President of the GLR-AMTA.
