The purpose of Great Lakes Region-American Music Therapy Association Students (GLR-AMTAS) is to advance and support, on the regional/student level, the goals of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and to serve GLR-AMTAS members by:

  • Advancing the use of music for restoring, maintaining and improving physical and mental health.
  • Supporting music therapy students during their training and education.
  • Providing a forum for the exchange and publication of information about music therapy especially pertaining to the work of music therapy students.

AMTAS Membership is open to students who are declared music therapy majors enrolled in AMTA-approved schools or other interested students.

How to Get Involved in Leadership: The student officers (except President-Elect) are elected by Student Members during the General Business Meeting at each GLR-AMTAS Regional Conference in the spring for a year-long term: President, Vice President, Secretary, Parliamentarian, Treasurer, and Webmaster.
