The purpose of GLR – AMTAS is to advance and support, on the regional/student level, the goals of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and to serve GLR – AMTAS members by:
- advancing the use of music for restoring, maintaining and improving physical and mental health.
- supporting music therapy students during their training and education.
- providing a forum for the exchange and publication of information about music therapy especially pertaining to the work of music therapy students.

How to Get Involved
The officers above (except President-Elect) are elected by Student Members during the General Business Meeting at each GLR – AMTAS Regional Conference in the spring for a year-long term: President, Vice President, Secretary, Parliamentarian, Treasurer, and Webmaster
