Dana Tonkinson is serving as the GLR-AMTAS President for the 2023-2024 term and is excited to be working closely with this talented team of music therapy leaders as a student advocate. She is currently interning at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Western Psychiatric Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dana completed her coursework in music therapy and communication sciences and disorders at Cleveland State University. She studied oboe and English horn as primary instruments and performed in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. She also served as President of the student music therapy organization and Historian of the student speech and hearing organization. After completing her internship, she would like to work in a pediatric medical setting and receive training in utilizing AAC devices in music therapy to incorporate her education in communication sciences and disorders. She is also very passionate about supporting and amplifying adoptee voices and advocating for adoption education. In her free time, Dana enjoys rock climbing, roller-skating, reading, and being with friends. Dana is excited to be working with her board of incredible student leaders and advocating for students throughout the region!
