Summary:

The Music Therapist is responsible for supporting individualized therapeutic goals through individual and group music therapy sessions. Design individual and group sessions to target goals and participate in treatment planning. Maintain and provide documentation, reports (oral and written) as required and attend service planning meetings with the referral source.

In-Home Support Services provides services to clients in La Crosse, Trempealeau, Monroe, Jackson and Vernon Counties. This is primarily a remote position, traveling between client’s homes and schools, with the potential of transporting clients. Interested applicants must be willing to travel to these various counties.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in music therapy required.
  • Board certification through CBMT required. WMTR state registry required.

Schedule:

  • Full Time would be 40 hours per week, typically daytime hours with flexibility for evenings and weekends to meet the needs of our clients.
  • Part Time would average between 20 and 40 hours per week – flexible scheduling to meet the needs of our clients, primary hours would be evening and weekends during the school year with potential day time hours during the summer months.

Must possess:

  • Have a creative, fun, and positive attitude!
  • Demonstrated knowledge of outcomes-based treatment philosophy is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Time management skills & reliable work ethic
  • Must have a reliable vehicle to drive to clients’ homes. Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and acceptable driving record within Chileda’s driver requirements

Job Duties:

  • Plan, organize and lead music therapy experiences in individual and group settings, in accordance with a client’s needs, capabilities, interests, and goals.
  • Collaborate with the Chileda Shine counselors and behavior consultants to provide holistic care for clients and families in the Chileda Shine program.
  • Assess the emotional well-being, social functioning, communication abilities, and cognitive skills through musical responses.
  • Address areas of skill deficit in these area through musical responses.
  • Evaluate, document, and report progress on individualized student goals on at least a quarterly basis.
